Building a new PC

The parts are here. I started working on it last night. Our new desktop computer will be a reality soon. I did have to return the motherboard and get a new one. However, Newegg took care of me and overnighted the new one to me (it should be here today). I'd recommend Newegg if you need computer parts and/or accessories. They have good prices and great customer service. The motherboard box had a huge gash across the top and was missing the WiFi module. The module was important since it was the main reason I purchased that particular model.

The motherboard is the only thing not name brand. I saved $30-$50 and got all the features I need and some built-in upgrade options. ASRock is owned by ASUS anyway. This board has both DDR2 and DDR3 slots and can handle up to 1600 MHz FSB processors. It has built-in WiFi for easier networking too.

So now I have the PNY 8800GT video card I got a few weeks ago and a retail Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz processor with 2 GB of Crucial DDR2 RAM. I went ahead and got a new floppy, DVD burner and 500 GB hard drive as well (all three Samsung brand). I figured since everything else was new that I'd go ahead and get a new case as well (made by Cooler Master). Once it's all together, I'll post a picture of it. Now I just need a really good deal on a 24-30" UXGA monitor. ;)
