Crossroads in education

I find myself in an increasingly difficult situation educationally. This IS the fork in the road. ODU's Computer Science Department is not interested in accommodating Distance Learners, period. No matter how much they pretend to have a program, don't believe it. There is no possible way for me to complete their distance program in any timely fashion, whether I am part-time or full-time because they do not offer classes at times, or in the semesters, that will allow me to complete the degree. So, now I'm weighing my options.

I've looked at some colleges with better distance education programs (though few with CS programs). I've looked at some college programs geared towards working adults. I've even looked at other programs offered through ODU, but I'm not sure what to do. One possible option is to get an Associate’s Degree from CVCC in Mathematics and use that to get in somewhere else. I've already taken several of the math courses needed (with a 4.0 GPA) and can most likely transfer the general education classes from ODU to fulfill the requirements. I'm just sick of the way ODU's program is making me drag things out. I want to be done with it and not have to pay an arm and a leg to do it.

I'm asking about the AS degree now and I'm going to meet with the distance education person for ODU here on the CVCC campus. Maybe once I've done that I will have a better idea of what comes next. Right now I'm just frustrated by the whole thing. I want to give up and say forget it, but I know doing this will give me (will give us) options. I like options. So, I continue with the saga that is higher education.
