Hectic holidays

The hecticness of the holidays is upon me. We spent this past weekend celebrating with my mom's side. We'll spend this coming weekend and Christmas eve/day with Salve's family. Then we'll spend the following weekend and New Year's with the Lin Clan. Finally, we'll wrap it all up by celebrating Christmas with my dad's side the first weekend in January. Then on January 7th, I start Linear Algebra. I guess there really is no rest for the weary. Hopefully I'll get some rest and relaxation in there somewhere.

We are looking at getting a screen door for the front door of our house. It will really help to have one. Plus, if we do it now we can get a tax break on it. The nice ones are a little pricey, but I think it will be worth it. I need to see if it is something I can do, or something I'd rather have installed for me. I don't know if I have the time and I want it done right. I may not have the tools to do it either. I need to do a little research.

It's hard to believe another year is almost gone. It will be 2010 before you know it. That's good though because Salve has agreed to let me get a HDTV by the time of the next World Cup -- which is in 2010. I'm hoping I can get one sooner, but our finances have to get in better shape first. Things have been a little tight since we bought the car. Plus, with Chloe starting pre-school, and then school soon after, money may continue to be tight. If we do have another kid that will change things as well. I guess only time will tell.

I'm getting excited about being off from work for just over two weeks (and only using 3 days of vacation for it). Working for the college is really starting to grow on me. The time off at Christmas is a big bonus that you don't get anywhere else. I sure didn't get that when I was at Coastal. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed working at Coastal, but I didn't get nearly the time off I get now and I've been with the college less than three years. It only gets better. Plus, they work with me on my education better than any other employer would. This is really working out well for me. I always said Coastal was a stepping stone to something bigger, but I just didn't know when, where or how.
