Hard to believe it, but fall is already here. That means cooler weather and trees changing colors, both of which I like. However, it also means we have to switch our clocks again. I wish they would do away with this stupid time changing. Just leave it the way it is. Doing away with it would mean less confusion and more daylight in the evening (when it matters most) during the winter months. I hate coming out of work only to find out it is already dark outside. I'd rather have darkness in the morning when I'm driving to work.
I had a small taste of Bhut Jolokia (or Naga Jolokia) today. The “ghost chili” that is officially now the world’s hottest pepper is hot. This little guy is roughly three times hotter than a habanera. It made the left side of my mouth and my tongue tingle for several minutes and the piece I had was very small. It was also a little dried out, having been cut the day before. It was probably not at full potency, but I understood how hot these things are from that little taste test. The father of my co-worker’s friend grew some and doesn’t know what to do with them all. He tried one yesterday and brought a little for me to try today. I’m going to try to get some to take to Mike. I hope you’re ready Mike.
I’m keeping my eyes on the prices of HD televisions. Although we aren’t ready to buy one just yet, I am excited about how much the prices have been dropping. Before long we’ll be able to afford to get one and watch some high-definition stuff. I’d really like to watch some movies in HD too, but that will require another technology purchase. I’m also interested in possibly getting one of the next generation gaming systems, but I need to tackle one purchase at a time for now. The HD signals at our house are pretty good, according to the CEA site. So, we should be able to watch most of the channels without much trouble. I’m thinking of getting a good medium-sized antenna and mounting it in the attic towards the two tower locations. Then again, maybe we’ll break down and get a dish – who knows.
