I'm in Richmond right now for a two-day training seminar on web security. The first day was good and I'm looking forward to the second day. However, what makes trips like these so great is eating out. I love eating out on the company dollar because I can eat at places I possibly wouldn't (or even can't) at home.
I asked my co-worker, who used to live in Richmond, for some restaurant ideas and I have been happy so far. I can't wait for tonight's dinner on the way out of town. Last night I ate at a little Cuban place called Kuba Kuba. The food was absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend making the time for it if you are ever in Richmond. It is a little hole-in-the-wall type place, but the food is great. I ate at Kobe down in the Shockoe Slip area Sunday night and had some great sushi and a huge dinner I couldn't finish (I wasn't expecting the dinner plate to be that big). Tonight I'm hitting a Brazilian place called Texas de Brazil.
The Cuban and Brazilian food are things I can't get back at home, in either Lynchburg or Roanoke (that I know of). That's the kind of stuff I love to do on business trips. I can't wait for the next one. I only wish the seminar were another day or two so I could hit some more recommendations.
